Lyndon Cassell Photography
Hello
Lyndon Cassell Photography is a Vancouver Island professional photographer based in Port Alberni. My portfolio consists of many photographic disciplines as I am constantly shooting. When I am not out with a client I am evolving my skills at home. From week to week, as time permits, I work on honing my skills in any number of photography types. From product photography, real estate, landscapes, portraits, light painting and night photography, I keep learning and evolving. Most of the time I am with a client or on assignment on behalf of a client or customer.

A lot of my work has been used for websites, promotional and marketing materials, newspapers and magazines and as prints.
My Story
I grew up in Newfoundland (yup, I'm a Newfie) and I always had a love of sports (participating, not watching), filmmaking (remember Super 8mm?) and photography (Polaroids to start). I went to University at first to become an Accountant and later to become a high school teacher. While in University I got a part time job with Educational Technology (a fancy name for Memorial University of Newfoundland's television station). A couple of years later I took a job with the Department of Biology as their A/V Coordinator. That's when I got the computer bug and moved to Halifax to learn software development. Eventually I was flown to Calgary where I worked in a very cool environment as a programmer. Once I settled in, I got back into filmmaking with the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF). I bought a digital video camera, used my connections at CSIF to build a great crew and excellent cast and made "Crysis". This 30 minute production received non-theatrical distribution and is available at the Government of Canada's Library under the Safety category. Some time later I moved to Port Alberni with my Canon 5D Mark 2 DSLR and opened a flower shop with my florist partner. (Azalea Flowers & Gifts - operated from 2015 - 2022). I spent a lot of time when we opened doing photography around the Valley as a way to cross promote our business. Taking images of our products was an ongoing part of my daily tasks for our website and social media. As attention was placed on me for my photography I was able to work on a lot of events and would also go shoot events as a way to promote Port Alberni. At this point in time I am basically a full time working photographer and love what I do.
